The Little Princess!

Shirley Temple was easily the most popular and famous child star of all time.

...In 1934, at the age of 6, Shirley Temple danced her way into the hearts of millions with the movie Stand up and Cheer.

She then skyrocketed to superstardom in her movie Bright Eyes, a feature film designed specifically for her talents. In February 1935, she received a special Academy Award.

Shirley Temple These movies made her the most popular movie star of the Depression era. Her smiling face made people forget their troubles for a short while and although the Depression is now long over, Shirley Temple dolls have proven to be timeless.

The Shirley Temple doll has made it so far into our popular culture that even people who could not identify any other vintage mid-20th century doll can easily identify a Shirley Temple doll - she was a merchandising dream!

...considering that TV wasn't available to promote mass market dolls when the doll was released, it was phenomenal how many of these dolls were sold.

The dolls have been produced from the 1930s through today, with several gaps in production in the 1960s and 1970s. The best known company that has produced Shirley Temple dolls was the Ideal Toy Corporation. This company produced the dolls from the 1930s until they went out of business in the early 1970s.

Whether you have an ordinary doll or if you have a valued Shirley Temple original doll, you will definitely enjoy making these beautiful knitted outfits that have been designed & adapted from the original and most popular Shirley Temple dresses.
